AO FeVer!

First of all congratulations and thank you, both, Fernando and Rafa for providing some breath-taking Tennis!!! (it's been sometime since I said it without Roger being a part of it :-P)
5 hrs 14 mins of ultra-high intensity Tennis and FeVer almost did it! It just re-kindled memories of the Wimbledon '08 Final...I fail to understand from where these guys manage to muster so much energy. 5 hours and neither showed any signs of letting it go, where on the other hand, for us, even an hour of playing some lame Tennis, leads to "bed-rest" for a day!!! :-D I'm kinda dumbstruck at this moment...so I don't think I'll be able to conjure up more words. I'll just share a small fact about the Australian Open, that I guess, makes it interesting - The AO has always been a place for out-of-nowhere players (at least for the last 4 years or so...) who have set the stage, err, Tennis-court alight! Marcos Baghdatis (2006) - Finalist Fernando Gonzalez (2007) - Finalist Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (2008) - Finalist Fernando Verdasco (2009) - Semifinalist (How I wish I could say, Finalist!) Sadly, none has been able to extend the "fairy-tale" beyond the final :-( And without guesses, Roger's the man who has stopped their juggernaut on two occasions! I just hope the final doesn't prove to be an anticlimax! PS: And for those who still haven't got FeVer; read: Fernando Verdasco! I've actually lost count of the no. of exclamation marks keyed in here :-P

Give One Word For

Give one word for (a phrase, etc.) - we have always been asked to do this while in school. Now how if I ask you to give one word that best describes yourself? So, I guess your first reaction is - that’s impossible! Well, true. It’s impossible. There are so many things about you, that the English language will have to invent a new word that combines all your qualities. Now, let me ask you to describe the people you know. The task becomes so goddamn easy! You might just say - “He’s an idiot”, “She’s a nerd”, “He’s a loser”, etc. :-D The exercise gets tougher when you’ve to apply it to yourself. I’m still finding one word to describe myself. I’ve come down to two words with some effort -> "Der Künstler" (The Artist)! Do they tell you anything about me? Take the test yourself and write one word that describes yourself. I'm quite eager to read your comments... Goodluck!

A Wednesday - Stupid Common Man

First of all, here is another silent prayer for the unfortunate souls who died in the terrorist attack (26/11) in Mumbai and I am not referring to the bastards who attacked Mumbai. The terrorists were neither unfortunate nor do their souls deserve a prayer. May they rot in hell. Now, I shall try and be as brief as possible about the movie, which would be being true to its running time as well - around 95 mins. Excellent acting all round by Anupam Kher, Naseeruddin Shah, Jimmy Shergill and others (there might be a few glitches) but the excellence of the movie overshadows everything. It is not a paragon of cinematic finesse, but a triumph of storytelling excellence with just the necessary wicked kick in the tale. No songs, no drama. Just plain good cinema. Actually you don't need anything else when you have two of the best actors in Anupam Kher and Naseeruddin Shah! Good work by Neeraj Pandey (script, direction) and his team which had the courage to bring this light. "A Wednesday" tells the story of a man who holds the city of Mumbai to ransom for a day, asking for four terrorists to be handed over to him. The movie gives just the right raw feel of a nation whose citizens are currently awash with rage/outrage (make your pick), including yours truly. The rest of the movie tells the incredibly prescient story of what follows. I believe every Indian must see the movie. Half of the reason the 1st paragraph is worded like it is, is due to the movie. The other reason is that I had decided to pay some homage to Mumbai in my first post in the aftermath of the attack. Please see the movie. If the producers/director are half as savvy as they were when they made it, they should re-release the movie. They will make a lot of money, I think.
