Different takes

Culture isn't just about what you wear, it is also about respecting others' choices.

Respect isn't just about how many people salute you, it is also about whether you treat them equally.

Equality isn't just about reservation, it is also about never thinking what caste the other person belongs to.

Freedom isn't just about being able to complain about the system, it is also about making the right choice to have the correct one in place.

Patriotism isn't just about buying the miniature national flag from the street children at the traffic signal, it is also about wondering what you can do so that they don't need to sell them in the first place.

They had more than 200 years to come to where they are now. We have had barely sixty.

Don't pretend to be someone you are not. Don't stand back and wish that things should change. To be a better citizen, start with being a better person. Accept your country the way you accept your mother. The day you leave her for better opportunities, you forfeit all rights to complain.

Jai Hind!

  1. This one started off strong and finished with a bang, but IMHO could have done without the 'They had more than 200....' reference. Freedom is always about choices one makes, never about comparing with another.
